It’s Calf Selling Time!

Today was calf selling day! Well, technically the sale is tomorrow but we took them to the sale barn today. It was a busy and exhausting day! For the last month or so we’ve been feeding the weaned calves in the corral to get them used to going in there. Today was the day we closed the gate on them! It was the big day for the heifers, two loads of them! We had to sort off the bull calves because they aren’t ready to ship yet, they won’t be bulls when they go to the sale barn. 😉  Continue reading

Brrrr, Baby It’s Cold Outside

Winter is back! Hopefully for its final “hurrah!”, I’ve lost my cold weather tolerance. The last couple days have been cold and drizzly with occasional flurries, perfect weather for staying in. Which is what I’ve done and it’s been wonderful! Of course we have to do all of the chores (feeding and watering everyone, milking the goats, collecting eggs, and watering all the plants in the greenhouse) but once all of that is done we’ve been taking it easy. Baby Calves and More

I’m going to start off by posting a couple pictures I meant to post yesterday. I totally fell asleep watching TV last night and woke up at a very unreasonable hour and decided it just wasn’t worth getting my laptop out. So, here it is:

This little nugget was born right in front of me yesterday morning when I was feeding my horse, Zip, and filling the cattle stock tanks.
